"New York songbird Alexa Wilding just wrapped Coral Dust, the follow-up to her 2009 self-titled debut. Produced by Tim Foljahn (who has collaborated with Cat Power, Thurston Moore, the late Townes Van Zandt) and mixed by Television's Fred Smith, the album's lush and atmospheric expanse is an electrifying progression from Wilding's dark acoustic noir. As Foljahn puts it, "The first record is a sweet, dirty delight in sparky darkness. The new one is a whole other thing: vistas of space dust and crystal cliffs." While the songs are still rooted in Wilding and Foljahn's intricate call-and-response guitar play, room has been made for deep sea bells, airy synths, and mischievous percussion, courtesy of Brooklyn drummer, Brian Kantor (Higgins, Vetiver). Wilding reigns over these dreamy equations with warm, layered vocals, weaving her tales with self-possession. "DRESS GO-AROUND" FILM / IVANA HELSINKI

This is a little film by my friend, Paola, the brilliant blonde magician behind the Finnish design line, Ivana Helsinki. It's called "Dress-Go-Around" and it introduces her project of the same name where 10 girls are given Ivana Helsinki dresses, we document our time in them, and then pass the "energized" garment on to a new girl of our choice, the idea being that the dress is charged with our lives, dreams, and energies. Alchemy!

We made the film in Central Park on a bitter cold day. But the best part, besides playing dress up with Paola, an adventure I can never say no to, was slipping on the ice with Heather and Erika from Au Revoir Simone.

On April 30th, 2008, Tamsin Lonsdale's SUPPER CLUB hosted "A Double Sneak Preview: Vicente Wolf and Alexa Wilding" at the soon to open 15 Union Square West, former home of Tiffany & Co.

Guests previewed the model apartment (designed by Wolf) of the as yet finished building, while "Breakfast a Tiffany's" played on the flat-screen TV (perched on an easel, a Wolf design staple). Moi, dressed courtesy of Brian Reyes, performed songs from my EP smack in the middle of the living room. Guests picked up limited editions of the record, complete with black paper diamonds and ribbons.

On April 3, 2008, I performed a cabaret cake popping number for society favorite, Euan Rellie, on the occasion of his 40th Birthday celebration at Bar Milano, co-hosted by pal Tamsin Lonsdale's SUPPER CLUB.

"After a delicious five course feast...a humongous plaster cake rolls into the middle of the room. Out pops a chanteuse! The sexy Alexa Wilding, mini-guitar in hand, croons a sultry Happy Birthday. Applause. 'She's better than Marilyn Monroe,' said Rufus Albemarle. 'And she's wearing Galliano!' chimes in the lovely Lucy Sykes-Rellie." -- AVENUE. (Actually, Alexa was wearing a one-of-a-kind corseted tutu a la a feisty Moulin Rouge runaway, created by Camilla Huey).

The feat was covered by Avenue Magazine, W Magazine's Editor's Blog, Fashion Week Daily's Chic Report, and The New York Social Diary.

And life just gets more interesting! Mad-cap, actually.
